Jewellery Repairs
We offer a very comprehensive jewellery repair service from ring sizing to stone mounting, from safety chains to charm and chain soldering.
We are extremely fortunate to have our own in-house goldsmith, who has been repairing jewellery for over 30 years! This service means that we can offer a quick service to the customer and in many cases, the repair stays on the premises. We pride ourselves on offering competitive prices but also top quality repairs, and suffice to say tha whilst a few repairers may offer a cheaper service, our repairs are guaranteed and we have without a doubt one of the finest quality goldsmiths in the region.
We invite you to bring your items to us to at least estimate for repair, and you are free to speak about any estimate or repair to our Registered Valuer ad business owner Mr Christopher Hart. We really do believe in quality. Possibly not always the cheapest you will find, but a good service really cannot be offered 'cut price', and we cannot and will not take risks with precious and prized possessions, if its a low price you are looking for, there may well be alternatives, but think carefully before you do risk something that it is important to you.

Design work
We have our own design service where we can use old stones to create new pieces of jewellery, creating one off original, re-making old or worn out jewellery. We also have our own bespoke wedding ring design service, please ask for a free brochure at enquiry@charleshart.co.uk
Engraving
We offer a first class engraving service on most items (excluding glass). Our engraver has the latest computerised equipment that can create almost any design, pattern, logo or crest, and apply this to any metal object. This is however machine engraving which in this day and age is absolutely superb. However some items, such as small lockets or signet rings do require skilled hand engraving. This is a service that we can offer, and we will be pleased to quote for any enquiry. We can also engrave inside of rings. Please also consider us for a large number of cups and trophies, whether buying from us or indeed your own, we will always offer a sizeable discount for quantity. Should you wish to buy a cup, plaque or trophy, why not look at our sister company, www.astins.co.uk where you will find a lot of choiced, and whilst it is predominantly for sailing, 90% of the items there can be for any sport. For glass engraving we can only obtain glass items through our supplier, and we cannot engrave any of shop's glassware.
Seal Engraving
We are able to place seals and crests upon most signet rings either your own, if suitable or we do have a range of signet rings suitable for this purpose, from plain Oxford style square to round and oval. Prices do vary but allow around £200-£300 for a seal engraving, and about £400-£500 if we supply the ring, and about 4-6 weeks to complete. Pearl Restringing
We offer a service to re-string all types of pearls and beads. This is not undertaken on the premises, but we do use first class restringers, and we can also supply clasps and make new necklets to your own design and taste.
Watch Repairs
We can repair many makes of watches, and use a watchmaker that has undertaken work for many top class companies including Mallorys of Bath.
In the main we only repair manaul or automatic watches, but we will also repair better quartz movement makes. We do stress that we only overhaul watches, as to fit parts is normally not worth the cost to the customer unless the watch is fairly new, or been repaired in the last two years. We do recommend that watches are serviced every three years. We do offer a full watch battery replacement service on the premises, plus keep a very large range of leather straps and metal watch bracelets, including 9ct gold.
Clock Repairs
We do not offer a clock repair service at the moment, although we can normally replace movements to most quartz clocks.
Repairs to silver holloware, candlesticks, teapots etc
